Connect a Nexor phone number to let an Agent make and receive voice calls. The number belongs to the workspace, while its Voice assignment belongs to a specific Agent.
The Call option in the Playground places a real external call. It is not a browser simulation. Always use a phone number you control while testing.

Before you start

Have the following ready:
  • The Agent that should use the number.
  • A test phone number that you control.
  • The consent and opening disclosure required for the destinations you plan to call.
Phone number inventory, supported destinations, regulatory requirements, and pricing can change. Nexor shows the numbers and any charge currently available to your workspace during setup. If the country you need is not available, contact Nexor Support instead of assuming a fixed country list or price. If Integrations or the option to add a number is not available to you, ask an account administrator to complete the provisioning step.

Provision and assign a number

1

Open the Phone number integration

Go to Integrations → Phone number. Open the integration and select Add number. If your workspace already has numbers, open Manage first.
2

Choose an available number

Select the country shown in the setup flow, review the live inventory, and choose a number. Some countries require a compliance request instead of immediate provisioning.
3

Review any charge

If the number exceeds the allowance included with your plan, Nexor shows the current recurring price before asking you to confirm. Do not rely on a price copied from an older document.
4

Assign the number to the Agent

Go to Agents → your Agent → Settings → Channels. If Phone is not already connected, select Add channel → Phone, then choose the number. A workspace with one Agent may have its first number assigned automatically.
5

Confirm the channel

Make sure the Phone row shows the assigned number. Open Edit to configure how the Agent handles calls.
A messaging-capable number can also be used for SMS, but Voice and SMS are separate channels. Assigning, disabling, or choosing Stop using for one channel in Agent settings does not change the other channel’s assignment.

Choose the language, voice, and gender

The Agent’s lead-facing language stays under Agents → your Agent → Settings → Context → Your agent. Choose the language before choosing a voice. Changing it can change which voices appear in the voice list. To choose how the Agent sounds on calls, open Agents → your Agent → Settings → Channels → Phone → Edit. Under Voice, use the play button to preview the selected voice or a voice in the list when a sample is available. Then choose Female, Male, or Neutral under Gender. Female or Male filters the list when matching voices exist; Neutral keeps the language-compatible pool. If Clone a voice is available for your workspace, select it and upload voice recordings. Cloning is optional; the standard voice list remains available.

Configure call behavior

Open Agents → your Agent → Settings → Channels → Phone → Edit. The current controls include:
  • Agent speaks first?: When enabled, the opening message is used as soon as the call can begin. When disabled, the lead opens the call and the opening message is not used as the first utterance.
  • If the lead says nothing, speak after (ms): Set how long the Agent waits before speaking when the lead is expected to open.
  • Opening message: Write the first spoken message and insert Agent or lead variables with @.
  • Voice speed: Adjust the pace. The dashboard marks the recommended range.
  • Interruption sensitivity: Control how easily the Agent yields when it hears the other person. Test this with realistic background noise.
  • Background ambience: Choose an available ambience or none.
  • When a machine answers: Choose whether the Agent checks before hanging up, hangs up on the first sign of a machine, or does nothing special.
  • Style: Add channel-specific speaking instructions.
The recommended machine-answer option is Check before hanging up (recommended). It lets the Agent pause and verify a machine cue and handle a call-screening prompt before ending the call. Hang up on the first sign is faster but can end a call on a person who answers slowly or uses call screening.
For some calls to +1 destinations, Nexor may wait for the recipient or a call-screening service before using the configured opener. This avoids speaking over the screening prompt.

Current voicemail limitation

Do not rely on Nexor to leave a voicemail message today. Some accounts may show Platform voicemail detection and Message left in the voicemail, but the current call system keeps platform detection off. Changing that switch has no effect, and the configured voicemail message is not played into the inbox.
Use When a machine answers to decide how the Agent reacts when it hears signs of a machine. This behavior can help the Agent avoid false positives, but it does not turn voicemail delivery on.

Place a real test call

1

Open the Playground

Go to Agents → your Agent → Playground and select Call.
2

Confirm the destination

Enter or confirm a phone number you control. Review it carefully because Nexor will dial that number.
3

Answer and test the flow

Check the opener, voice, interruption behavior, required disclosures, and the Agent’s response to silence. Repeat with one configuration change at a time.
4

Review the result

The Playground follows the call and can report a completed call or a not-connected result such as no answer, busy, or voicemail reached.
See Test in the Playground for the full testing workflow.

Troubleshoot setup and tests

Provision a number under Integrations → Phone number, then reopen the Agent settings. If the integration or provisioning action is unavailable, ask an account administrator or contact Nexor Support.
Confirm that Phone is active for this Agent and that the number still appears on the Phone row. Reopen the Playground after saving the channel.
Destination support is evaluated when the call is placed. Check the phone format and contact Nexor Support for current country availability. This guide does not promise a fixed country list.
These are real call outcomes, not simulated failures. Try again only with a destination you control. A voicemail outcome does not mean Nexor left the configured voicemail message.
Nexor may wait for a person or call-screening service before speaking on some +1 calls. Test the exact destinations your campaign will use.

Check compliance before launch

Voice setup does not replace consent, calling-hour, AI disclosure, or recording requirements. Review these pages before using a US campaign:

US outreach rules

Check consent, calling hours, opt-out, and state requirements.

AI disclosure and recording

Write a compliant opening line and understand recording consent.
