# Send Message

> Send a message to a lead through WhatsApp, email, or trigger an AI-powered phone call.

<Note>
  Free-form `content` messages cannot carry a file. To send an image, video, or document, use `template_id` with a template whose header format matches, and pass the file's URL in a `header` component under `components` (see the `whatsapp_template_with_document` example below). Templates also work outside the 24-hour customer service window. Create and approve templates from **Integrations → WhatsApp → Templates** — see [Message templates](/docs/en/guides/whatsapp/message-templates).
