# Inbox summary

> Count what is waiting in Inbox right now for each teammate: unanswered conversations, open and overdue escalations, and manual contact.

This report answers "what is waiting in my Inbox?". It is a snapshot of right now, so it takes no dates. For what each teammate did over a period, use [Team performance](/docs/en/api/reports/get-team-performance). See [Inbox overview](/docs/en/guides/inbox/overview) for the views in the app.

## What each count means

Every count is a number of **leads**, grouped by the lead's current owner. A lead counts at most once per column.

| Field | Leads counted |
| - | - |
| `conversations` | Every lead that was contacted or replied at least once. Deleted and test leads are excluded. |
| `unanswered` | The lead wrote last, nothing was sent after that message, and the conversation was not closed after it. |
| `escalated_open` | Waiting for a person through Human Assistance right now. |
| `escalated_overdue` | An open escalation already passed the expected response time, 6 hours by default. |
| `human_takeover` | A person owns the conversation right now (**Manual contact** in Inbox). |

## How the response is organized

| Part | Content |

| `by_person` | One row per teammate with at least one lead in Inbox, most `unanswered` first, then most `escalated_open`. |
| `unassigned` | Leads without an assigned teammate. |
| `totals` | The sum of every `by_person` row and `unassigned`. |

Use a `user_id` from `by_person` as `assigned_to` in [List escalations](/docs/en/api/inbox/list-escalations) to see that person's cases.

## Filter by task

Add `workflow_id` to count only leads active in that task (`workflow` in the API).

## Before you start

* MCP keys need `leads:read`. Full-access REST keys need nothing else.
* Errors return a stable code in `error`, such as `invalid_workflow_id` or `workflow_not_found`. Map the code to your own copy.
* An AI connected to the [Nexor MCP server](/docs/en/api/mcp-server) reads the same counts with the `get_inbox_summary` tool.
