# Get topic transfer rules

> Read the topics that make the AI transfer an agent's calls, the number each one rings, and what the AI says before transferring.

Returns the topic transfer rules of an agent, the same ones the **AI Receptionist** shows under **Transfer by topic** on its **Transfers** tab.

* Each rule has a `key`, the `topic` that triggers it, the `number` it transfers to, and what the AI says first (`say`).
* `rules` is empty when the agent has none. An agent has at most 5 rules.
* `status` is `ready` once calls use these rules. Right after a change it is `pending`, usually for a minute or two. `unpublished` means the agent's calls have not been published yet.

MCP keys need `numbers:read`. See [Transfer by topic](https://docs.getnexor.ai/docs/en/guides/agents/router.md#transfer-by-topic) for how the AI uses each rule.
