# Delete agent file

> Permanently delete a file so no agent can send it. Rules that mention its handle stop sending it. There is no undo.

<Warning>
  Deleting a file is permanent and affects every agent in the account. No agent can send it afterwards, and instructions or rules that mention its `@handle` stop sending it. The request has no confirmation field, so confirm with a person first and name the file.

* To stop only some tasks or one agent from sending the file, use [Set availability](/docs/en/api/agent-files/set-agent-file-availability) instead. That keeps the file and can be undone.
* The response returns the `handle` that stopped working. Search your instructions and rules for it and update them.
